How to sell your garage floors 20% more with BallistiX?

Garage floors are usually the favorite jobs for epoxy applicators. Easy to apply, multiple color choices for the customer, more permissive than metallic floors in terms of imperfections and above all quick to install, we don't know any installer who doesn't like to make them. So how can our new product line BallistiX help you make even more profit with your projects?

Why add BallistiX protection?

BallistiX coatings feature breakthrough features in the world of epoxy and concrete. Here are some benefits of adding this protection over your flake or quartz floor:

  • Hydrophobic - Water beads up on the coating
  • Slip resistant
  • Heat resistant up to 900-1200F depending on product
  • UV, acids, stains, oil, corrosion, chemicals, scratches and abrasion resistant
  • Antimicrobial, Antiviral and Antifungal
  • UV impervious (Only with three components products)

The BallistiX will therefore allow you to protect your floors from the common problem of hot tire marks on polyaspartic and will offer you superior protection than polyaspartic.

Here are some substances you will have increased resistance to with BallistiX versus polyaspartic: battery acid, petroleum, hydraulic fluid, brake cleaner, ethanol, Skydrol, calcium, chloride, etc. The extra protection is therefore a great way to avoid callbacks a few years after installation.

Aesthetics may also be a reason to apply a coat of BallistiX to your floors. The product can hide lap lines or imperfections on your finish and can also be matte or satin with the addition of Grenades - Satin Pack.

How and how much to sell the BallistiX protection layer to the customer?

First, let's talk about the price. Since the product is from the United States, we will use this market to know how much to charge the customer.

US applicators typically charge an additional 20% for applying BallistiX protection or between US$1-3 per sq. ft. On an application at $7.50 per sq. ft., 20% represents an additional $1.50 and a final price of $9/sq. ft. I'll let you calculate what that means to you.

Then there are two schools of thought on how to sell the product:

The first is very simple: the applicator only installs flake or quartz floors with BallistiX protection. Its customers therefore automatically have protection on the quote they receive and the price is adjusted accordingly.

The second leaves a little more freedom to the customer since the installer offers it as an option or an upsale. On the quote, the price of the addition of the protection is mentioned and it's up to the customer to decide if he wants you to install this additional protection. Typically, 30% of garages sold this way are sold with BallistiX protection.

That's all well and good, but is it complicated to install?

Absolutely not! When applied to a surface with relief, there is nothing easier than installing a BallistiX coating. Here are some steps to follow when applying the product:

1. Make sure the topcoat is made of polyaspartic.

Although the product also works with epoxy, it is much easier to apply it over polyaspartic. You only need to wait for the end of the recoating period to be able to apply (Typically if you come the next day you'll be good) whereas for an epoxy, you must wait for the complete cure (approximately 7 days) or use buffing pads to degas it. Note that BallistiX cannot be applied directly to vinyl flakes.

2. Clean the surface with a mop and 99% isopropyl alcohol

BallistiX sticks to almost anything except itself, as long as the surface is clean. therefore ensure the cleanliness of the surface by always cleaning before application.

N.B. Never use any product other than 99% isopropyl alcohol for cleaning.

3. Spray and walk away

And yes, it is as simple as that! Just spray the product on your floor to add all the benefits of BallistiX. Generally, a 1000 sq. ft. application takes about ten minutes to complete.

You are now ready to offer this new service to your customers and increase your profits! Stay tuned, we'll be posting the application process videos soon to help you bring your customers' epoxy ideas to life!
